Create Websites to Convince Customers

Introduction.

Some say websites built from scratch are best. Add to this, some consider Microsoft FrontPage a fairly easy way to learn how to create websites.

After spending many years in marketing and design, these sentiments are not ideal. The following explains why.

Building from scratch.

Sites built from scatch, by PROFESSIONALS, are best. This includes templated websites. Professionally designed templates, filled with original content (good, bad, or indifferent) are BY FAR, BETTER than poorly designed sites with great content.

Why?

People are visceral by nature. Almost half of website visitors are 'visually motivated', positive or negative, to act on your site. About a third want the information fast and easy. That means, 7-out-of-10 people who visit determine the 'value' of your site by its design, 100% of the time. Your content NEVER gets the chance to compete, with poor design at the front door.

Good design brings people back. This affords, at least, the opportunity to improve content. Poor design only affords a painful (and costly) lesson, and the opportunity to start all over again.

Using Microsoft FrontPage.

No one, and that means NO ONE, who is a Professional website designer, uses Microsoft FrontPage. This INCLUDES the folks at Microsoft!

The Professional designer's choice of a WYSIWYG design program IS Macromedia's Dreamweaver, on the PC, Mac and Linux. Hand-coding on the PC is done with everything from Notepad to HomeSite (the engine on which Dreamweaver is based). The Mac's handcoding environment is a bit more ecclectic, but most use either TextEdit or BBEdit.

Professional development.

You want professional, quality, website designs. This requires time, blood, sweat, and tears. It requires the best tools available.

If you are not willing to do this yourself, then 'buy' your design from a reputable professional. Or, seek out a source, offering proven, professional, WORKING, website designs. This includes information, support, and promotion. You will be $$ and years ahead of those who squandered thousands of dollars (and more!) in basically useless attempts.

Conclusion.

Time is too short and money too easily lost to spend it on poor designs, and unprofessional websites. Make the commitment to develop your website professionally. Or, hire someone to do it.

Don't waste time and money. You WILL be glad you didn't!!
