More Tips for Public Relations and Press Releases

Introduction.

There are many suggestions for using public releases and public relations. Here are some more tips to consider for promoting websites.

Public Relations campaign.

PR is free, but relatively slow. In traditional press it works from small to larger. First get published in your local town paper. Then, try the regional newspaper. Then, try the national magazine. Always point to your latest publications (at least on your website).

People love to read and they value your busines n-fold, because it was in the paper. It is not so much they read about you in the press and seek out your shop. Rather, it helps when they come to your website. They see you have been written up, in a magazine they know. Thus, they believe you are an expert and are more inclined to buy from you, or on your advice.

Focus the Campaign.

Target buyer groups, when a website is store-like and offer oriented. Many customers shop to solve a specific problem (sounds strange, doesn't it). Some seek a present for holidays. Some seek to use it for themselves. Some seek to indulge in somthing making them feel good, after a bad life experience.

Public Relations in context.

Cater to these buying motives. Offer advice articles and show how your website helps solve the problem at hand. Ask existing customers about your website. You may hear their reasons and motives to buy. Use such advice as the basis for articles to publish or announce as press releases.

Getting results.

Press releases work best if you know what a particular paper wants. Contact the paper. Better yet, find the most applicable editor, and ask. Follow up with a press kit (published articles and background of your business/person - also called a bio) delivered personally to this editor.

Follow up your frist press releases or article submissions. Discuss, with the editor, if this material is of interest. Find out why or why not. Highlight the portion most interesting to a particular editor!

Conclusion.

Public relations and press releases are effective when you know what people want. Find out what customers want and offer more of it. Find out what editors want and give it to them. Everyone is happy which helps you create a good reputation.

A good reputation translates into more exposure, and ultimately, sales!
